Tech Job Market Report: October 2026

A snapshot of what's open across the 1,121 companies we track on remoet.dev. 782 of them are hiring right now. The rest are quiet this month.

11,822 open roles. We count roles, not postings: a role posted in several cities counts once. Here's how they break down.

What pays

Salary bands across roles that mention each tech, drawn from roles with disclosed comp, normalized to USD a year. Caveat: roles with public salary skew toward US states with pay-transparency laws (CA, CO, NY, WA), so absolute levels run high. Filtered to techs with at least 50 such roles.

Experience level

552 open roles are tagged junior-level. That's about 4.7% of the total. The split: 7,169 senior, 4,067 mid, 552 junior, and 34 with no level stated. If you're in your first three years, treat the junior subset as your working set and sort by company-stack match before applying.

Most common benefits

Counted by distinct companies offering each benefit on at least one open role. Free-text benefit fields get noisy fast, so similar benefits can appear under different names.

  1. equity, 204 companies

  2. dental insurance, 87 companies

  3. health insurance, 87 companies

  4. competitive salary, 81 companies

  5. parental leave, 79 companies

  6. vision insurance, 76 companies

  7. professional development, 71 companies

  8. unlimited pto, 65 companies

  9. paid parental leave, 64 companies

  10. competitive compensation, 60 companies

Methodology

Data is pulled from 1,121 company career pages, scraped and enriched daily. Role counts are point-in-time as of report generation, and a role posted in several locations counts once. Reports up to and including September 2026 counted every copy of a role separately, so their totals run higher and are not directly comparable with this one. Salary numbers reflect only roles that publish compensation, which biases toward US pay-transparency jurisdictions.

Coverage is still expanding as we onboard new sources, so month-over-month role totals look inflated. Treat absolute numbers as current snapshots, not as growth signals, until coverage stabilizes.
