Transloadit is a media processing API for developers. Customers send files in and get back encoded video, resized images, processed audio, or transformed documents. Used by The New York Times, NVIDIA, Oracle, WeTransfer, Coursera, PwC, and Fujitsu.
Bootstrapped in 2009 by three engineers from Berlin and Amsterdam. Remote-only since day one, now operating as Transloadit-II GmbH out of Germany. Small full-time team backed by a network of freelancers.
The founders were early Node.js contributors and built Uppy and the tus resumable upload protocol. The company allocates $34,666 of revenue each month to open source, funding projects like Eleventy, Astro, and XState.
