The Institute for Nonprofit News supports a network of 500 independent, nonpartisan nonprofit newsrooms across the US, representing roughly 4,100 journalists. Members commit to editorial independence and financial transparency in exchange for business-model support, editorial collaboration, and shared services.
Founded in 2009 as the Investigative News Network with 27 founding newsrooms. Membership has grown 18x since. Karen Rundlet took over as CEO in early 2024.
INN runs the FindYourNews.org member directory, the annual INN Days conference, and publishes the INN Index research on the nonprofit news sector.
